HAND SURGERY

The ability to use our hands is something that we don't think consciously about, but they are complex and multifunctional. They are the principal way we interact with the world.

Our hands provide the focal point for one of our key senses, touch, and allow us to manipulate the world around us. At CQ Hand + Upper Limb, we aim to restore the function of your hands as much as possible and do so in such a way that minimises the impact on your life and livelihood.

TRAUMA

Hand injuries can be devastating, and even the most innocent of injuries can cause significant distress and disability. We provide comprehensive treatment of injuries to your hands in such a way that minimises the amount of time it takes to recover. We can also address deformity, stiffness, instability, pain or scarring from prior trauma. Examples of things that we can address for you include:

  • Fingertip injuries

  • Nail bed injuries

  • Finger dislocations

  • Fractures of metacarpals and phalanges

  • Microsurgery

  • Local flap coverage of soft tissue defects

  • Nerve repair

  • Tendon repairs

  • Scar revisions

ELECTIVE

At CQ Hand + Upper Limb, we don't only take care of injured hands; we also deal with more long-standing issues. We will provide a thorough assessment of what your concerns are and offer you a management plan that gets you back to doing what you want to do. This does not necessarily mean that you need to have surgery and we will liaise with hand therapists/physiotherapists if non-operative options can get you the function you require.

Some examples of conditions treated include:

  • Dupuytren's contracture excision

  • Replacement of finger joints for arthritis

  • Rheumatoid hand reconstruction

  • Tendon transfers for nerve, plexus or tendon injury

  • Correction of finger deformities

  • Trigger finger release

  • Basal thumb arthritis
