A few practical notes
-
Finding the rooms
Dr Hirpara's rooms are on Level 1 in the main building of the Mater Hospital.
- If entering from Ward Street, follow the signs for CQ Hand + Upper Limb, or ask for directions at front reception.
- If entering from the I-MED Radiology carpark on Spencer Street, follow the signs for CQ Hand + Upper Limb.
-
Parking
The I-MED Radiology carpark off Spencer Street is the closest option and a short walk to the practice. On-site patient parking at the Mater is also available, including disability spaces. Parking is limited, so please allow extra time.
-
Arriving early
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before your appointment to complete paperwork before seeing Dr Hirpara.
-
What to bring
Your current GP referral and any x-rays, scans or previous medical records relating to your concern. Scans from CQ Radiology, I-MED Radiology and Bolsover Radiology can be viewed electronically. Full referral guidance is on the FAQ's page.
-
Consultation fees
Full payment is required at the time of your consultation, using either cash, EFTPOS, or credit card (Visa/Mastercard only). You will be issued with a receipt, and if your bank details are registered with Medicare, we can lodge the claim electronically to Medicare on your behalf. Itemised fees and the surgery-quote process are on the fees page.
-
Travelling from out of town
Many patients drive from across Central Queensland — the Capricorn Coast, Gladstone, Bundaberg, Emerald, Mackay and the central west. If you are travelling, allow extra time on the day; the practice can usually arrange any post-op therapy follow-up closer to home. In-person review is preferred; telehealth review can be arranged where the protocol allows and travel is genuinely a barrier. Drive time and scheduling notes per catchment are on the service areas page.
For overnight stays around an admission — Mater House sits adjacent to the hospital itself. Booking details and options are on the accommodation page.
-
If you cannot make it
Please ring the practice as soon as possible so the appointment can be reallocated.
